East Africa CoP on Mountain Monitoring
The East Africa Community of Practice on Mountain Monitoring is intended as a collaborative space for institutions and individuals involved in observing and understanding mountain environments in East Africa.
Initial focus
The CoP starts with the Mount Kenya area and with monitoring related to climate and atmospheric composition. These are starting points rather than fixed boundaries. The community may expand to other mountain regions, environmental domains and forms of collaboration over time.
What the CoP can support
- exchange of information on monitoring sites, measurements and methods;
- stronger links between participating organizations and experts;
- coordination and comparison of monitoring approaches;
- shared workshops, training, field activities and scientific meetings;
- development of joint projects and proposals;
- documentation and exchange through the website and GitHub wiki.
Activities
The GEOMountain Symposium is the first dedicated activity represented on this website. Further meetings and collaborative activities can be added as separate sections without changing the overall site structure.
